The Semifinal round of the Stanley Cup playoffs are ready to start.

Western Conference:
San Jose Sharks(5) VS Edmonton Oilers(8)
Anaheim Mighty Ducks(6) VS Colorado Avalanche(7)

Eastern Conference:
Ottawa Senators(1) VS Buffalo Sabres(4)
Carolina Hurricanes(2) VS New JErsey Devils(3)

Kind of weird, in the Western Conference, the 4 lower seeds advanced, but in the eastern conference the 4 higher seeds advanced.

I'm kind of glad we're facing the Ducks this round. Giguere isn't doing that good in the net, and they've put in their rookie net-minder. In most cases rookies have a hard team keeping their composure, especially while in the playoffs =D I hope Theodore will play as good as he did in Game 5. He reminded me of Patrick Roy in net. Making beautiful saves. Anyways, I can't wait till friday game 1 of the semifinals Avs @ Ducks...Playoff hockey. Man how I missed it last year!

After failing to sweep the series against the Stars in Denver, the Avs marched into Dallas looking to end the series and advance into the second round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

The scoring didn't pick up until the second period and the Avs went down 1-0. Jimmy Dowd tied the game up 10 minutes later. Then Joe Sakic scored with 0.4 seconds left in the period giving the Avs a 2-1 lead into the third period.

The Stars scored the lone goal in an action packed third period with some great hits and some great netminding from both goalies.

The overtime period was slow with alot of offside, icing, etc stoppage. The game was decided 13 minutes and 55 seconds into the extra period when Andrew Brunette roofed Joe Sakic's pass past Marty Turco and won the game and series for the Avs.

The Avs will play one of these 2 teams: the San Jose Sharks or the Anaheim Mighty Ducks. If the Ducks win their series against Calgary, then the next round will be the Avs and Ducks. If Calgary wins the series then it'll be the Avs and Sharks duking it out in Round 2.

Huzzah for the Edmonton Oilers eliminating the Detroit Red Wings =D Anytime Detroit loses is a happy time when you're an Avs fan ^___^

The Avs came out hot and Joe Sakic opened up the game with a powerplay goal. The Stars came back and tied it up. Alex Tanguay finished the period with the Avs second goal giving them a 2-1 lead at the end of the first period

Period 2 was all Dallas. They scored twice giving them a 3-2 lead.

The 3rd was heavy on action and light on scoring. Until 53 seconds left in the game. Andrew Brunette taps in a powerplay goal to tie it up and send the game into OT.

A minute into the extra period is all it took for Alex Tanguay to bank a shot off Dallas's netminder, Marty Turco, and into the net. The Avs have a 3-0 series lead and can rap the series up friday with a win on home ice. GO AVS GO!!!

These playoffs are definitely delivering in excitement.

Wow game 2 was really exciting and kind of disappointing, but a win is a win and I'll take it =D

The Avs came out hot and shooting. Rob Blake opened things up with a power play goal and gave the Avs a 1-0 lead. Andrew Brunette scored 2 minutes later then Milan Hejduk scored 3 minutes after him and ended the period up on the Stars 3-0.

The second period the ice tipped the other direction. With some very lucky bounces the Stars scored 4 unanswered goals. They ended the period up 4-3 on my Avs. =O

The 3rd period was nail biting. It took the Avs about 18 minutes into the 3rd period to tie it up. What makes it sweeter? It was a short handed goal by Brett Clark. The Avs finished the 3rd period down a man. But they held on strong and brought the game into OT.

Now OT is always nail biting. All it takes is one shot to end it. The Stars had a ringer of the crossbar that scared the shit out of me. A few seconds later the Avs captain, Joe Sakic, redirected John-Michael Liles shot and ended the game. This is Sakic's 7th playoff OT goal, most in NHL history.

The Avs have a commanding 2-0 lead in the best-of-seven series and are now heading back to Colorado for games 3 and 4. Hopefully where they will sweep the Stars and head to round 2 of the Stanley Cup playoffs. GO AVS GO!!!

Round one of the Stanley Cup Playoffs have started. The seventh seeded Colorado Avalanche take on the second seeded Dallas Stars. Today was their first game of a best-of-seven game series. The outcome? The Avs scored 5 unanswered goals after falling behind the Stars 2-0 and beat them 5-2. The goals came from a variation of players.

Milan Hejduk scored 16:42 in the first 1st. Woltek Wolski(our big rookie)scored 05:24 in the 2nd, followed by big name defense Rob Blake on the powerplay at 09:08 in the 2nd. Later on the power play John-Michael Liles scored 11:12 in the 2nd. Bret Clark adds the last goal for the Avs at 02:58 in the 3rd.

Depsite going down 2-0 in the first period of play. The Avs clearly outplayed the Stars. Getting to lose pucks, better skating, nice crisp passing. If game 1 is any indication of how the series will be, I'm going to be one happy hockey fan ^^

The Western Conference of the NHL is all set up for the start of the Stanley Cup Playoffs. The Holy Grail of Hockey is at stake. It's the oldest sought after trophy in North America.
(The Great Patrick Roy holding up the Holy Grail. This was back in '95 - '96. It was the Avalanche's first franchise cup)

Western Conference Standings:
1 Detroit Red Wings
2 Dallas Stars
3 Calgary Flames
4 Nashville Predators
5 San Jose Sharks
6 Anaheim Mighty Ducks
7 Colorado Avalanche
8 Edmonton Oilers

The brackets will look like this:
Det(1) VS Edm(8)
Dal(2) VS Col (7)
Cal(3) VS Ana(6)
Nas(4) VS SJ(5)

I dunno how I feel about facing Dallas in the 1st round. We have a nice history against them in the playoffs, but they're a hot team right now. I hope the Avs get their heads out of there asses and start playing hockey. Last nights game was pathetic. Sure we were locked into the playoffs, but finish strong. Get some momentum.

Eastern Conference Standings:
1 Ottawa Senators
2 Carolina Hurricanes
3 New Jersey Devils
4 Buffalo Sabres
5 Philadelphia Flyers
6 New York Rangers
7 Montreal Canadiens
8 Tampa Bay Lightning

The Brackets:
Ott(1) VS TB(8)
Car(2) VS Mon(7)
NJ(3) VS NYR(6)
Buf(4) VS Phil(5)

This year has been definitely exciting especially down the stretch for the playoffs. We're in the final; night of games and seeds can change.

The Avs didn't do as well as I had hoped. We lost some key players due to injury(Steve Konowalchuk and Marek Svatos). They're both really great players and great assests to the Avs. Our goaltending had not been stellar. Which even led to a trade. David Aebischer went off to Montreal and we got Jose Theodore. Kind of deja vu. In '95 we traded our netminder to Montreal and got the best goalie in hockey. Patrick Roy(now retired ;_; ) Maybe Theo will turn out to be like Roy? That would be awesome.

Stanley Cup History
NHL home page
When did you become a Sonic fan to begin with?
Back when Sonic the Hedgehog came out...then I lost interest after Sonic 3D Blast, then got back into it b/c of Sonic X.

2. Dr. Eggman, what's his best trait?
His determination.

3. How did you discover SonicAnime and what made you like it to begin with?
When I first saw Sonic X, I did a search to find out more about it. Ran into sa.net and DLed the episodes.
